Doar Hayom, Jerusalem Hebrew daily, reported today that eight Jews held here in jail on a charge of having entered the country illegally are on a hunger strike, which has lasted for three days, demanding to be deported or released at once.

Some time ago the government of Palestine began a drive to oust tourists who had entered the country on tourist visas and overstayed their time without obtaining permission.

The drive aroused intense animosity among the Palestinian Jews and led to the riot in Tel Aviv, which began as a peaceful meeting against the “tourist hunt” carried on by British officials.
