Tragedy marked the annual Passover term excursion of the Herzlia Secondary School when Haya-Helena Werthe, 17, who was with her classmates on a hike round the Dead Sea, was struck by a dislodged bolder on the steep cliff in Transjordania leading to the Massada fortress, and was thrown into a ravine. She died two hours later, in spite of the first aid rendered.
