Armistice negotiations “between Israel and Lebanon will open officially Tuesday at Has el Nakura, on the Israeli-Lebanese frontier, a Government spokesman announced today. At the same time, it was announced that Israel’s delegation to the armistice tails with Trans Jordan scheduled to begin tomorrow Rhodes has been named.
(A Rhodes cable reported that the Transjordan delegation has not yet arrived ##ing to bad weather. Members of the Amman delegation set out by air from Beirut for Be island headquarters of acting U.N. mediator for Palestine Dr. Ralph J. Bunche but ##ere forced to turn back due to poor flying conditions. Both the Israeli and Trans-Jordan delegations are due at Rhodes tomorrow.)
It is understood here that the Israeli-Lebanese talks will probably be brief. if they last longer than one day, it is believed that the talks Bay be conducted else-?here. The last negotiations between the two countries were held seven weeks ago, also on the frontier. A representative of Dr. Bunche’s staff is expected to be present at the Tuesday meeting.
Meanwhile, the evacuation of Egyptian troops from the Faluja area was reported continuing today following an earlier delay due to technical difficulties. It is expected that evacuation of Faluja will be completed by tomorrow evening. The Egyptians have imposed a news blackout on the Faluja operation and have barred all newspapermen and photographers from entering the area.
