Transjordan has become the third of the Arab states to agree to Israel’s proposals for the repatriation of Palestine Arab refugees who, during the war, became separated from their families which still reside in Israel territory, it was officially announced here today. The other Arab states which are cooperating with the Jewish state in this matter are Egypt and Lebanon.
The Israel Government has set up an inter-departmental committee of civil servants who will concentrate on the problem of facilitating the entrance into Israel and the free travel through the country and Jerusalem of Christian pilgrims who are expected here in great numbers next year. The same body will attempt to aid Christians travelling from Israel to Rome for the Catholic Church’s Holy Year in 1950. One of the major problems the body hopes to solve is freedom of passage between the two parts of Jerusalem.
Agreement has been reached between Israel and Egypt covering the exhumation and transfer to Israel of the bodies of 80 Israel soldiers who fell near Faluja last year, it was learned today. The transfer will take place next week.
