Transjordan has been unwilling to carry out some portions of the Israel-Transjordan armistice pact, an Israel Army spokesman charged here today. He added that the Israel Government considers that this is not only a serious breach of the agreement but also provides evidence of Transjordan’s lack of sincerity about the entire pact.
The charges were made during a review of the activities of the four mixed armistice commissions maintained between Israel and Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Transjordan, respectively. He revealed that with the exception of the Transjordan-Israel body, the agendas of the commissions had been cleared of all complaints. Although notable progress has been made during the past 14 months, there are still some issues not settled and some portions of the Israel-Transjordan agreement which have not been put into effect.
The portion of the pact over whose implementation Transjordan balked, he said, involved: opening of the Bethlehem-Jerusalem-Latrun roads to free traffic; resumption of normal functioning of the cultural and humanitarian institutions ## Mt. Sec?us, and the guaranteeing of free access to the height; permitting free access to the Holy Places and cultural institutions and the use of the Jewish cometery on the Mount of Olives; and reopening of the Latrun pumping station.
