An area of 6,000 dunams of land in Transjordania was sold by the Transjordanian government to the Palestine Electric Corporation, which is carrying into effect the concession of Pinchas Ruttenberg for the electrification of Palestine. The amount of £ 14,000 was paid by the company for the land purchases.
The transaction has caused some criticism in the Arab press. Replying to this criticism the Transjordanian Premier stated that it was impossible for the government to refuse the sale of the land in view of the provisions of the concession granted to Ruttenberg by the British government, which provides that land necessary for carrying out the work be made available.
