The Transvaal provincial division of the Nationalist Party voted unanimously today to drop the clause from its constitution banning Jews from membership. The provincial division was the only section of the party which carried the discriminatory clause against Jews.
The decision was taken at the Pretoria conference of the party which was addressed by South African Premier Daniel F. Malan and other members of the cabinet. It will be announced after a full committee discussion. The conference also unanimously approved merger of the Nationalist and Afrikaner parties.
