A brilliant performance of Traviata, Verdi’s famous opera, was given a Hebrew rendering here last night. There was a gala attendance and the many Englishmen, Americans, consuls and high government officials who were part of the audience proclaimed it a great success.
This opera, translated for the first time into ancient Hebrew was presented first at Tel Aviv, under the direction of M. Galinken of Odessa. The cast included Mme. Must of Moscow, and Messrs. Kund and Harmelach.
