Sen., Jacob K. Javits, New York Republican, obtained assurances today from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that no restrictions against Americans of Jewish faith were contained in a new treaty with the Arab sultanate of Muscat and Oman ratified by the Senate today.
Before voting on the measure, Sen. Javits sought information to determine if the State Department might have again drafted a treaty discriminating against travel rights of American Jews as it did in a previous undertaking with Saudi Arabia. The Senator was reassured that the treaty with Muscat and Oman was free of any such discriminatory clause.
