Three persons charged with having participated in the desecration of the Jewish cemetery on Lansing Avenue belonging to the Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Congregation on the night of April 27, were arrested by the police and will be tried before the Court of Common Pleas.
Two of the culprits are said to have signed a confession. The third protests innocence.
Preliminary information given out by the police points to a disregard of the theory current here that the desecration was perpetrated by members of one group. It appears that of the three prisoners one is a German, the second a Slovak and the third a Pole. The names have not been disclosed pending the court proceedings. It was understood that the two who have confessed to the vandalistic act will base their defense on the contention that they were drunk that night and did not know what they were doing.
