The trial of eighteen Nazi terrorists accused of complicity in a plot to bomb a warehouse in Allenstein owned by a Jew, A. Abraham, opened today.
One of the defendants confessed that the local Nazi leader had ordered him “to put Abraham on the spot”, but added that this connoted not death, but injury to the Jew.
The public was excluded from the court-room when cross examination of the accused as to the source of their supply of explosives began.
The Nazi storm troop leader, Bruno Helwich confessed that hand grenades had been thrown into the bedroom of Abraham.
Several of the accused, questioned as to the reason for the outrage, replied : “Our superiors told us Hitler wants to become president, therefore we must support Hitler by subduing the Left elements.”
