Fifty prosecution witnesses were heard today as the trial of 23 members of the Irgun Zvai Leumi charged with attacking the Haifa railroad yards on June 17 resumed this morning, after passage of special legislation authorizing trials in absentia.
The proceedings were adjourned on Monday when the defendants conducted a “singing filibuster,” which made it impossible for the trial to go on. It was announced in court today that the 23 would not be brought into the courtroom until the judges were ready to issue their verdict and sentences.
