President Truman, in a message made public yesterday, congratulated the West End Synagogue on its hundredth anniversary this month, saying, “In the next decade, as in the last, the measure of justice accorded to minority groups will be one of the criteria of national morality and international sanity.”
“It is essential,” he declared, “in a truly democratic nation, that those of all faiths enjoy mutual respect and cooperate to bring about peace on earth and good will toward all men no matter what their race or creed.”
