The 30,000 members of the women’s branch of the American ORT were lauded by President Truman for “providing vocational training that will make it possible for thousands of men and women to take their places as productive and respected members of their new communities.”
The message of praise was sent by the President to the women’s organization on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, which will be observed on March 12, Mayor Vincent R. Impellitteri of New York has proclaimed that day as ORT Day “in recognition of the noble and constructive work performed by the Women’s American ORT in the economic rehabilitation of uprooted and underpriviliged Jewish people throughout the world.”
