Truman Names Jewish Woman to Federal Bench; First U.S. Woman Judge in New York

Miss Frieda B. Honneck, who came to the United States from Poland at the age of six and was naturalized in 1916, was named yesterday to the Federal bench by President Truman. Miss Honneck, who is active in Jewish affairs, will be the first woman to serve as a Federal judge in the New York district. She is the first woman over to be a member of the Federal Communications Commission and, at 23, was the youngest lawyer practicing in New York.
