Former President Harry S. Truman was a recipient of three ancient vases from Israel for the Truman Library in Independence, Missouri The presentation was made to the former President by Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein and Gustav Stern, New York industrialist, on behalf of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, in his capacity as head of World Academy of Jerusalem. The vases released by the Department of Antiquities of Israel as a special consideration for Mr. Truman are of the Byzantine and Roman periods and are 2,000 and 3,000 years old.
