Truman Tells Congressional Leaders Not to Raise Refugee Issue at Special Session

President Truman told Congressional leaders that the refugee question should not be brought up at the current special session of Congress because of the press of foreign aid and domestic inflation, Rep. Frank Fellows, chairman of the House Immigration Sub-Committee, said today. He added that he could not see how his group could go ahead with action on the Stratton Bill under such circumstances.
