President Truman has brought to the attention the Department of Justice the fact that its Immigration Service is not making full (?) of the quotas available to potential immigrants who can comply with the existing immigration regulations, it was revealed here today by Congressman Adolph Sabath, of (##)linois.
Congressman Sabath said that during a visit to the White House last week, he (##)inted out to the President that officials of the Immigration Service of the Department of Justice are discriminating against displaced persons who can comply with our immigration laws within existing quotas. The President expressed concern over this information and assured Sabath that he would again ask that no restrictions be placed on persons who can qualify for immigration visas.
President Truman also reiterated his support of the Stratton Bill, now pending in Congress, which provides for the admission of 400,000 displaced persons to the United States within a period of four years. He emphasized that the U.S. will take (##) active interest in the Palestine question when it comes before the U.N. General Assembly next month, Rep. Sabath said.
