The forteenth anniversary of Trumpeldor’s death will be commemorated by the Revisionist and B’rith Trumpeldor Organizations Sunday evening, February 25, at 8 o’clock in the large hal of the HIAS Building, 425 Lafayette street.
Jacob de Haas, Elias Ginsburg and Joseph Beder will be the principal speakers. Petitions will also be sent to the British Parliament and the American government asking for free immigration.
Joseph Trumpeldor was a cappain in the Russian army and was decorated by Czar for bravery. Later Rumpeldor joined the British service as a commander of the Zion Mule Corps in Gallipoli. In 1921, he died defending Tel Aviv, a colony in Galilee, from Arabian marauders.
ARICAN JEWS ASKED TO CELECRATE PURIM BY ORTHODOX UNION
The Religious Reconstruction Fund Committee of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations has issued a call to the 4,000,000 Jews of America to observe the Feast of Purim on Thursday, March 1. The signal for this observance of Purim will be a nationwide radio broadcast from 10:30 to 11 p. m. over Station WJZ and The NBC network. Messages of Jewish leaders and music sung by well known cantors will headline the program.
Honorary chairmen of the committee are Rabbis M. S. Margolles, H. Pereira Mendes, Bernard Drachman, Leo Jung and Rbbi David de Sola Fool, Borough President Samuel Levy and william Weiss. Officers are rabbi Herbbi Joseph H. Lookstein, Dr. S. Braun, Samuel Feuerstein, A. Goldblatt and israel S. Gomborov, vicechairmen; Max Herskovits, treasurer; Arthur I. LeVine, co-treasurer; Representative Sol Bloom, honorary secretary, and Morris Engelman, secretary.
BELLE DIDJAH TO GIVE DANCE RECITAL HERE
Belle didjah, well known American interpretative dancer who recently returned from an extended tour of the Orient to find color for the extic dances of her repertoire, will include in her dance recital set for the Forrest Theatre Sunday night, March 11, an Oriental suite. The high {SPAN}{/SPAN}hts of this series will consist in the forrest Theatre program of a number entitled “Eedouin Lady,” another named “Arabian Cafe Dancer,” a third called “An Arabian Dandy,” and a forth called “Yemenite Chant.”Another serles of the sme program will include severa picturesque types native to our own people. A continental series to be included in the repertoire will be distinguished by jewels and bijoutrie given to Miss Dijah by Arabian dancers and desert sheiks.
JEWISH SEIENTISTS CELEBRATE
The Society of Jewish Seience will hold an entertainment and dance in celebration of its twelfth anniversary, on Sunday evening, March 4, at the True Sisters’ Building. 150 West 85th street. Among the artists who will appear are Julius Tannen, Harry Hershfield, Sid Gary, Molly Picon, Rhea sparag, Alfredo Sorvillo, Joseph Wolman, “Jock” Harris and William Bowers.
