Proposals for territorial trusteeships as part of the world organization will be presented at San Francisco by the “Big Three” Yalta conferees, together with representatives of the Chinese and provisional French governments, according to an announcement today by Secretary of State Edward R. Stettinius Jr. at his press conference.
The trusteeship, said Stettinius, should be designed to permit the placing under it of the territories mandated after the last war-which would include Palestine- such territeries taken from the enemy in this war as might be agreed upon at a later date and also such other territories as might voluntarily be placed under trusteeship. “No discussion was had at Yalta, or is contemplated, prior to, or at San Francisco, regarding Pacific territories,” Mr, Stettinius said.
