A French military tribunal in Marseilles has acquitted a Moslem policeman on a charge of killing a young Jew during an anti-Jewish demonstration by Arabs in this city three years ago.
The decision has caused consternation among the Jews here, particularly in view of the recent increase in the number of anti-Jewish demonstrations. Local Jewish organizations have the acquittal decision under urgent discussion.
The constable, Abbes ben Abbes, was charged with killing Samuel Journo, during an Arab demonstration in the Jewish quarter of Hafsia on June 14, 1952.
