A number of Jewish youths will be given training in various branches of the Tunisian police force, it was learned here this week-end. Previously no Jews were admitted to police posts.
At the same time. Tunisian Premier Tahar ben Ammar issued instructions that applications by Jews for posts in the new Tunisian administration be processed as quickly as possible and that, where the applications are considered satisfactory, the posts should be made available to them.
The Alliance Israelite Universelle has announced the opening of a new school in a remote rural area of Morocco. Site of the school is Arghen du Goundasi, about 100 kilometers south of Marrakesh. The Jewish community there comprises 300 persons, living in conditions of extreme poverty.
