Sensational revelations may be expected if implications in the speech delivered yesterday by Premier Ismet Pasha in the Turkish National Assembly regarding anti-Semitism are proven, the Daily Telegraph declared.
Referring Friday to the expulsion of Jews from the Dardanelles region, the Premier declared that “anti-Semitism is not a Turkish product. Any threat of its introduction into Turkey will be punished in a most exemplary manner.”
The Turkish Minister of the interior has initiated measures to punish the officials guilty of expelling the Jews from their homes and to resettle the refugees dislodged by their action.
The government order arrived at the Adrianople station just in time to stop a Jewish contingent from entraining for Istanbul, and to redirect them to their former homes.
An undetermined number of Jews, estimated in the neighborhood of more than 1,000 has already been reported passing through Greek territory after expulsion from Turkish Thrace.
