The Turkish Foreign Ministry has given permission to the local Fenerbahche football club to exchange games with Israel’s Hapoel club. This is the first time that such permission has been granted since the cooling of relations between Turkey and Israel because of Arab pressure.
The Hapoel football team is expected to play two games in Istanbul on August 20 and 21. One will be with Fenerbahche, and the other with the Ferikoy team. The visit will be returned by Fenerbahche at a later unspecified date.
