A bill which may deprive Turkish Jews serving with the Israeli armed forces of their Turkish nationality will soon be introduced in the Turkish parliament, it was reported here today.
A. Ulus, a member of parliament, addressing a meeting of the Republican Party — which is at present in power — said that he would introduce a bill in parliament to ascertain whether the paragraph in the Turkish nationality laws which says that Turkish citizens serving in a foreign army must be deprived of their nationality is applicable to Turkish, Jews who have joined the Israeli forces.
A survey released today by the Chamber of Commerce revealed that nine percent of Turkey’s exports during the month of September went to Israel. The Jewish state has now become Turkey’s second biggest customer, according to the survey. Principal Turkish products exported to Israel are eggs, nuts, fish and olives.
