Turkish newspapers, warning against an influx of Jews fleeing Rumanian anti-Semitic measures, urged the Great National Assembly today to adopt a bill introduced by ex-Agriculture Minister Sabrit Roprak barring foreign Jews from entering the country.
The press cited measures against Jewish immigration taken by the Bulgarian and other governments. Despite the press campaign it was not expected that the bill would be passed. Under present laws no Rumanians are permitted to reside in Turkey more than two months.
