“We Turks love the Jew and we know that the Jew loves us”, Dr. Fuad Bey, former Minister of the Interior in the Angora government, who arrived here a few days ago, declared in an interview with a representative of the Jewish Correspondence Bureau.
“During the war”, continued the Angora leader, “the Jews did not follow the example of other minorities to combine with the European powers in order to create trouble for Turkey. We will never forget this.”
Replying to a querry concerning the attitude of the Angora government to Palestine, Dr. Bey said “The National Pact, a charter which was worked out by the National Assembly, claims for Turkey only those territories where there are a majority of Turks; for the other provinces which form a part of Turkey, self-rule. We are practically not interested in Palestine. The inhabitants of Palestine will have to fight their battles for themselves.”
