Twenty-three Palestinian Jewish soldiers who were part of the Jewish unit captured two years ago by the Germans during the war in Greece and on the island of Crete were given a special reception here today. They were among the British war prisoners who arrived here this week from Germany under an exchange arrangement.
Speaking in behalf of the group, private Ben Zvi, from the colony of Benyamina, a member of the Royal Engineers, expressed gratitude to the British and Swedish Red Cross for their assistance in facilitating the repatriation from Germany. “Our comrades who remained in the prison camp are in good health and in good spirit,” he said. The group was greeted by a representative of the Colonial Office and by representatives of the Jewish Agency.
