Two American Jews, Colonel Michael Friedsam, president of the Fifth Avenue Association and of B. Altman and Company of New York, and Walter C. Korn, a director of Montefiore Hospital, the Bronx, were honored this week by the French government. Colonel Friedsam received the silver Medal of Honor of the French Ministry of Commerce in recognition of the assistance given by him in New York to the “exposition de la Rue St. Honore.” The presentation was made at a luncheon in Paris presided over by the head of the Federation of Committees of Streets of Paris, at which Col. Friedsam was the guest of honor.
Dr. Korn was decorated for the fourth time by the French Academy for his work for physical education in France. Maxime Mongendre, Consul General of France in New York, presented him with the purple ribbon and citation of an officer in the Academy.
