The Philadelphia Psychiatric Hospital, which is a constituent of the Federation of Jewish Agencies, has received two federal grants totaling $311,712, it was announced by Abe Cooper, president of the hospital
One grant of $186,712 was awarded to match funds to build a center for emotionally disturbed children, which will bear the name of Irving Schwartz, its principal benefactor. The center will cost $600,000. The other grant, of $125,000, was made by the National Institute of Health to Dr. Albert S. Friedman, the hospital’s director of research for a three-year study of a sedation drug.
