Two genetic mutations that have been linked to breast cancer among Ashkenazi women may cause only a small number of cases, according to a British study. Only a small percentage of woman with breast cancer in the study had the mutated BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes, the researchers wrote in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Having two or more close relatives with breast cancer is a stronger predictor, the researchers said Tuesday.
