Two hundred Jewish shopkeepers here have been fined sums varying from 250 to 500 Lits each (25 to 50 dollars) or one month’s imprisonment in default for having kept their shops closed on Monday, November 17th, when the Jews of Lithuania assembled in the synagogues for intercession against the Compulsory Sunday Observance. Bill (since passed into law) which was to be taken up on the following day by the Sejm at its third reading.
