Two Israelis Win American Prize for Works in Hebrew Language

The annual Dr. Nissan Touroff Memorial Prize for works in the Hebrew language in the fields of psychology, art or education have been awarded to Prof. Fischel Schneirson of Tel Aviv for 1954 and Arieh Allweil, well known Israel artist for 1955, it was announced here today by Edmund M. Melton, who established the award. Each award is for $250### cash.

Prof. Schneirson, supervisor of the Department of Psychology of the Tel Aviv school system, received the award for his works “Fundamentals of Child Psychology” and “Creativity and Nervous Tension in Children;” the latter work has been published in French by the University of Paris. Mr. Allweil received the prize for his illustrations and illuminations of the Biblical Books of Ruth and Lamentation and a Passover Haggadah.

The fund, which is affiliated with the Hebrew Teachers College of Boston, also maintains an annual lectureship at the school, where the late Dr. Touroff was dean, and awards an annual prize for excellence in studies to a student of the college.
