Two Jews were fatally wounded here tonight and 16 injured when British troops fired into a group of demonstrators who attacked government buildings.
Thirty-four others were wounded by club-swinging police who sought to break up the demonstration. Twenty-one were sent to hospitals, and scores of others received first aid.
The dead are Arie Prztyomski, 21, and Yehoshua Friedman, 27.
The demonstrations ended around midnight and the streets are now quiet. Trcops have set up positions in strategic spots in the center of the city and posted pickets.
British armored cars have thrown a cordon around the entire city and are ready to enter at the first sign of rnewed violence.
