Dr. Paul Hertz and Dr. Guenter Klein, two members of the West Berlin Senate, left this week-end for a two-week visit to Israel at the invitation of the Shilumim Corporation–the Israel Government agency charged with the administration and distribution of reparations deliveries from West Germany. The Senate is the government of the West Berlin City-State.

Dr. Hertz, who is a Jew but not a member of the Jewish community, is Senator of economics. Dr. Klein, a noted and courageous German friend of the Jewish people, is Senator of federal affairs–that is, of relations between this city-state and the West German Federal Government at Bonn.

West Berlin’s Mayor Otto Suhr, who was recently invited to visit Israel next Spring, has indicated that he will accept. Later in the year, he will be followed by J. Joachim Lipschitz, West Berlin’s half-Jewish Senator of the Interior.
