Two out of more than 40 parties registered for Russia’s upcoming parliamentary elections are being described as anti-Semitic. The U.S.-based Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union said this week that the Peoples Will Party of National Revival and the Unity Conceptual Party have both been known for their overt anti-Semitism. Neither party is expected to do well in the elections, slated for December. Another group that has employed anti-Semitism in past election campaigns, the Communist Party of ultranationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky, also has members running for the Duma, parliament’s lower house.
