The last two leaders of Israel’s Black Panthers who had been wanted by police surrendered this morning to police on Jerusalem’s Zion Square after a dramatic announcement on Israeli television last night that they would do so. The two, Charlie Bitton and Saadia Marciano, had been hiding since the demonstration here 10 days ago. All other Panther leaders, including Reuben Abragill and Kochavi Shemesh, were released yesterday on bail while their trial for causing a disturbance and obstructing police continues. On Zion Square this morning there were television crews on hand to firm the appearance from a side street of the two Panther leaders. A group of about 50 persons were awaiting them, and the plainclothes policeman conducted them to a police jeep.
