The New Haven Jewish Welfare Fund and the United Jewish Appeal agreed this week-end on a unified campaign in New Haven in 1959. it was announced here today. A joint statement issued by the heads of both organizations, reads:
“The New Haven Jewish Welfare Fund and the United Jewish Appeal have reached full agreement to conduct a joint campaign. Recognizing the urgency of all of the needs to be met by the 1959 campaign–local, national and overseas–the New Haven Jewish Welfare Fund and the UJA will cooperate in this mutual effort. The Jewish Community of Greater New Haven is called upon for maximum response as contributors and as solicitors to furnish the largest possible sum in this year of grave responsibility and historical opportunity.”
The Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds assisted in reaching the agreement. Mrs, Golda Meir Israel’s Foreign Minister, will address a mass rally here marking a high point in the unified campaign.
