Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, left last night by plane for England to help launch the 1960 fund-raining campaign of the Joint Palestine Appeal there.
The Joint Palestine Appeal in England corresponds to the UJA in this country. While both organization will conduct nationwide fund-raising campaigns in 1960 to aid in the relief and resettlement of refugees in Israel, the UJA also raises funds to support humanitarian programs for distressed Jews throughout the world.
Rabbi Friedman has been invited both to help launch the British campaign and to advise on its conduct because of his wide experience in dealing with problems of immigration and resettlement of large masses of people. He will return to the United States in time to participate in the UJA’s National Inaugural Conference at Miami, early next month, which will launch the 1960 campaign in this country.
