The United Jewish Appeal today completed plans for its 1957 nationwide campaign to be submitted next week-end to its annual national conference in New York.
The conference which opens on December 1st, will consider the new emergency in Israel created by heavy immigration. The sessions will give the delegates the opportunity of hearing from General Yigal Yadin, former commanding general of the Israel Defense Forces; Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency; Avraham Harman, former Israel Consul-General in New York and now a member of the Jewish Agency executive in Jerusalem; William Rosenweld, general chairman of the UJA, and Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman, UJA executive vice-chairman.
Another key address will be made by Edward M. M. Warburg, UJA president who also serves as chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee. The JDC will hold its 42nd annual meeting at the Waldorf-Astoria just prior to the opening of the UJA conference.
