The Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission today condemned Egypt for firing on an Israeli patrol which attempted to rescue the occupants of an Israeli military vehicle disabled by Egyptian fire from across the border.
The MAC at the same time censured Israel for shelling Egyptian border units, which in recent weeks have provoked a score of incidents. Five other Israeli complaints were removed from the unit’s agenda when the UN chairman ruled that the Israelis had failed to prove Egyptian responsibility for the incidents.
