Brig. Gen. William Riley, U.N. chief of staff in Palestine, was today scheduled to meet with Israeli representatives to give them the Egyptian point of view on armistice negotiations. U.N. headquarters here revealed that Riley visited Gaza early yesterday and returned to Tel Aviv last night.
The U.N. truce staff here has released a decision of truce headquarters concerning an alleged incursion of Syrian territory by the Israelis during the latest truce period. The incident, which is said to have occurred in a Syrian village lying just across the border from Israeli territory, was called a “flagrant truce violation” by the United Nations.
Two large buildings have been requisitioned here by the government for the forthcoming Constituent Assembly, it was learned today. It is expected that only the opening session of the Assembly will be held in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports state that after the general elections the present 13-member Cabinet will be enlarged to consist of 15 or 17 members.
