The United Nations Conciliation Commission today called in the Israeli delegation for detailed discussion of questions the Arab delegates have already agreed to consider, Reuters reported.
Today’s talks dealt with: 1. Reunion of dispersed Arab families in Israel; 2. “Unfreezing” of Arab assets in Israel and Israeli assets in Arab countries. The Jewish “frozen assets” include banking accounts–mainly in Egypt–credits in Beirut and warehouses in Alexandria and Beirut. The Arabs claim their accounts in Israeli banks total about $40,000,000. Israel estimates Arab frozen banking accounts at about $7,000,000, the Reuters report said.
