The United Nations Commission on Human Rights today began discussion of the safeguards to be included in the proposed International Bill of Rights.
A draft of the bill will be prepared by a special sub-committee of which Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt is chairman. Among the types of rights which will be included in the draft are: Statue of equality, without distinction as to race, sex, language, religion, professed belief, color, class, citizenship, civil status, health, birth, culture, other reasons, and prohibition of discrimination on the above-mentioned grounds. The bill will be submitted to the Commission on Human Rights at its second session later this year.
