Dr. G. J. van Heuven Goedhart, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, left here this morning for a visit to the Scandinavian countries after discussing with British Government leaders the UN proposal for setting up a voluntary fund to aid “hard-core” refugees still unsettled in Europe.
The resolution envisaged a fund partly contributed by governments and partly by individuals. Britain is understood to be studying the sum it can donate, Dr. Goedhart’s current trip is to explain the purpose of the resolution and to seek subscriptions to the fund.
