The United Nations Economic and Social Council yesterday approved a resolution urging all members of the United Nations and of the Inter national Labor Organization to ratify the 1958 ILO recommendation on non-discrimination in employment legislation. Israel is the only country which has already ratified the recommendation.
The resolution was adopted by a vote of 15 in favor and three abstentions. One of the abstainers was Britain, whose delegate expressed support of the resolution but said Britain was unable to ratify and implement it. The Council also decided to accelerate the work of the subcommission on Discrimination and Protection of Minorities. The sub-commission was enlarged from 12 to 14 members.
