U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said he believed his talks with Israeli and Palestinian officials were successful. Before he wrapped up a trip to the Middle East, Annan canceled a visit to Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, citing scheduling restraints. Palestinian officials charged that the visit was called off because of Israeli pressure.
