Prof. Solomon Poll, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, has been appointed dean of the faculty of social sciences at Bar-Ilan University. It was announced here. Prof. Poll, born in Austria, is noted for his research and writing on racial and ethnic minorities, racial stratification and the sociology of religion and community problems. He has also done research on the genetic differences that make Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jews susceptible to different diseases.
