With the $115,000 reported raised in the first week of the United Jewish Campaign for $150,000, efforts are now being made by leaders in the Jewish Welfare Federation, which is sponsoring the campaign, to raise the balance needed for the quota. Nathan M. Gross, president of the drive, Abraham Srere, chairman of the special gifts committee, Harry Bielfield, chairman of the general division, Mrs. Samuel R. Glogower, chairman of the women’s division, are strengthening their forces for an effort next week to raise $35,000 needed to complete the quota.
Congregation A. M. Hershman is spiritual leader, will open a drive Monday evening, June 3, at a dinner at the old synagogue, for a fund of $400,000 necessary for the construction of the new congregation at Chicago Boulevard, Lawton and Rochester Avenues.
Harry Z. Brown, brother of David A. Brown, is chairman of the campaign committee.
