A six-member delegation from the United States Air Force Research Development Command is due in Israel shortly to discuss the expansion of United States research projects at the Hebrew University, Haifa Technion and Weizmann Institute of Science, it was revealed here today.
The Technion has already completed several U.S. Air Force study projects, three others are in the completion stage and four were initiated last week. It is understood that most of these studies have sought to discover the effects of supersonic speeds on plane and missile parts. In the future, it is further understood, Israeli scientists will also carry out purely theoretical and mathematical research problems.
An aluminum sulphide plant, designed by new immigrants from Poland, will be established by the Fertilizers and Chemicals firm of Haifa, it was announced today. Aluminum sulphide is used mainly in the paper industry and for the softening of hard water. The Hadera Paper Mills, also called the American-Israel Paper Mills, uses 1,000 tons of the chemical annually in its paper production.
